Chopard, the Cannes Film Festival official sponsor, will be launching its 2012 Red Carpet Collection in support of the upcoming film event.
The collection will have 65 pieces of jewelry that are prominently made from precious gemstones such as diamond, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and tanzanite. The pieces will be exclusively worn by celebrities on the red carpet.
Aside from the jewelry collection, Chopard will also be creating the coveted Palme d’Or trophy. Designed by Caroline Scheufele, the trophy is a 24-carat gold palm that rests on a single piece of crystal. It is encased in blue Moroccan leather and presented to the best director of the film competition. The video below shows the process of making the trophy:
