Sonia Rykel is a world-renowned fashion designer who seems to have it all. Though that is the case, her new book tells a different tale as the designer has been suffering from Parkinson’s Disease for the past 15 years.

In her book entitled N’oubliez pas que je joue (Don’t Forget It’s a Game), she revealed that she cannot hide about her disease and the symptoms associated with it like uncontrolable trembling. It even got to the point where she was not allowed to be photographed using the cane that she had for the past years. She also wrote about her struggles in the book stating “”I don’t want to show my pain. I resisted, I hesitated, I tried to be invisible, to pretend that nothing was wrong. It’s impossible, it’s not like me.”
Sonia Rylel started designing last 1962 because of the lack of maternity sweaters that are soft. From then on, her works have been featured by various magazines and she was known as the “Queen of Knits”.
