Popular and “Sexy” designer, Jean Paul Gaultier was recently appointed as the new Creative Director for Diet Coke. In turn, the designer is planning to impose “high-fashion” and some “sexiness” in the brand.
The first project that the designer focused on is desigining limited edition bottles which shows the designer’s signature stripes as well as his corset-design. Aside from that, there is already an ad campaign out which was shot by Stéphane Sednaoui and the themes were “Night & Day” in which the famous signature designs of the Gaultier was showcased.
When asked about this newest project, Gaultier replied stating that “The brand asked me to explore its fun personality and to style the bottle”. He also added his own plans for the project commenting that “I want to show people the codes and signatures I love. The bottles have the shape of a woman’s body, so it was great fun to ‘dress’ them. The Diet Coke motif is so beautiful I had to design around this. The finishing touch was to apply my logo to the bottle, like applying a fragile stamp – making it something special you want to touch.”
